Germán Soto Sanchez
Germán currently serves as the Global Head of Corporate Development for Cloud9 Technologies.
Prior to Cloud9, Germán was an Executive Director and leader of JPMorgan’s Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) FinTech Team, where he was responsible for setting the broader FinTech agenda for the CIB and identifying opportunities for JPMorgan to partner with startups and innovators to address wholesale banking industry problems. He also managed the JPMorgan In-Residence program, a platform for solving complex wholesale banking challenges during a six -month residency targeting startups and entrepreneurs.
Prior to his role leading the CIB FinTech Team, Germán was a member of the JPMorgan Chase Strategic Investments team, where he focused on the sourcing, diligence and execution of early – stage investments. Germán has executed investments in areas including cybersecurity, financial messaging/communications, peer to peer payments, credit underwriting, market infrastructure, big data analytics and capital optimization.
Previously, Germán was the Head of M&A for a shelf chartered bank holding company that acquired failed or distressed financial institutions throughout the Southeastern United States. He also served as a Principal at AIC Private Equity, where he specialized in control investments in Financial Services and Telecommunications, successfully raising over $250mm. Previously, Germán was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co. Inc., where he was a member of the Financial Institutions group, and a Senior Associate Consultant in the Principal Investments Group at Bain & Co. Inc.
Germán received his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. Germán was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and grew up in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan.
